Spiritual leadership at Unity of Wilmington is currently led by Co-Ministers Dr. Rev. Ellen Contente and Dr. Herbert Harris.
Rev. Ellen hails from New York and comes to us from California, while Dr. Harris is a native of Wilmington who has spent many years in New York City.
They bring joy, enthusiasm and the practice of the 5 principles to Unity Spiritual Center of Wilmington as they guide our evolution and growth.

Dr. Herbert Harris
Dr. Herbert Harris is the best-selling author of The Twelve Universal Laws of Success and the Co-Minister of the Unity Spiritual Center of Wilmington. A Columbia University graduate and retired attorney, Dr. Harris offers a clear, powerful path to integrating spiritual principles with everyday achievement.
His internationally celebrated book, renowned for its Bible-based approach to metaphysical laws, has empowered readers around the globe. Trained in Unity under Dr. Eric Butterworth and ordained by "Rev. Ike's" Science of Living Institute, Dr. Harris brings a diverse and profound background to his teaching. Dr. Rev. Ellen Contente
I'm so honored and blessed to be serving as Co-Minister here at Unity Spiritual Center. My family came to Wilmington in 2021 after visiting here and falling in love with the area. Searching for a spiritual home, I found Unity and started attending services. Within six months, I stepped into the role of guest speaker, and a year later, I accepted the opportunity to serve here as Co-Minister. I speak every other Sunday, teach classes, run the women's group 'Spiritual Sistas', and oversee our Sacred Service Teams.
Unity is not just a spiritual center, it's a community! One where I have found a home, and I know you will too!

Rev. Ellen is the author of the Amazon Bestselling book, ‘M&M’s; Motivational Musings to live an Inspired Life’ and blog and her upcoming release, ‘Lessons from the Cast’; 10 Spiritual lessons I learned from breaking my Ankle! She also shares ‘Spiritual Snippets’ and meditations on her YouTube channel, Dr.EllenTalks.
A licensed New Thought Minister, Rev. Ellen serves as Co-Minister of Unity of Wilmington. She previously spoke at centers throughout California and served as Interim Minister for CSL Santa Clarita. She trained under Dr. James Mellon of The Global Truth Center and was a regular contributor to her local newspapers column, Spiritually Speaking.
Dr. Ellen holds a Doctorate in Spiritual Studies from the Emerson Theological Institute, Masters in Spiritual Psychology, and a Bachelor of Science in Management. She is the founder of Heart-Centered Programs, a training and coaching company devoted to helping people to live with Passion, Purpose & Play. She facilitates workshops and professional development programs on a wide range of personal and leadership topics.
She lives in Wilmington with her husband, their 27-year-old twins, and three cats – and can often be found at the beach, enjoying live music, venues or (unofficially) training for Olympic Gold.
